This week, meet Lauren Blank, owner of three franchise locations in the New York area! Discover what she values most about owning a songs for seeds franchise and what inspired her to join our family!

Why were you attracted to buying a songs for seeds franchise?

I was attracted to buying a franchise because I came to a songs for seeds class in Chelsea when my son was six months old and I fell in love with it immediately. He was in love with the class and I’ve never seen him more animated! Six years later when we moved out of the city, and I saw that they were looking to franchise, I jumped right on the chance because I knew it was the best class out there and that Long Island had to have it!

Can you speak to why songs for seeds is a good opportunity for people who want to find a new career path that is more family friendly?

songs for seeds is perfect for a person that would want to own a business that is family-oriented. For example, I bring my kids to class with me constantly and they love that they understand that when they can’t come with me they know where I’m going to work. So, when I say I’m going to work, they say, “Oh, you’re going to songs for seeds?” and they know what it is. They really get it and it’s wonderful to have your entire family part of something that you are building and being a part of.

Now that you’re a songs for seeds owner, what is your work-life balance like?

Now that I’m a songs for seeds owner, my work/life balance is great. I am able to be with my children when I need to, pick them up or drop them off at school. If I need to answer emails, everything is on my phone. I’m able to coordinate being with my family, while also having the business on my hands! It is something that is important to me, to have that work/life balance, and it was a big adjustment. But, I was able to make that adjustment work for me and what I needed with my family.

What type of person do you think would make a good songs for seeds owner?

I think a person who is going to be a songs for seeds owner needs to be passionate, love children, smile a lot (it’s hard work, but you get through it), and be someone that’s driven and motivated to bring something wonderful to many families, while being excited about it.

From the moment you signed, tell us how you felt about the franchising process and the level of support?

From the moment I signed that contract, I knew it was the best decision I ever made. The co-founders are so supportive and wonderful. Whether it’s an email or a text message, they were so excited to have me and I was so excited to have them. They truly made it a seamless transition into this new world that I was jumping into. The support has been fabulous, even ongoing now that I’ve been open for five months. If I have a question, they come to visit. If there’s a problem, they’ve fixed it, or helped fix it. Overall, it has been a wonderful, wonderful experience.

What was your motivation to franchise and was the sales process clear for you?

My motivation to own a children’s education franchise was a 45-minute conversation with Allison, a fellow franchise owner. Her passion behind everything that she said got me so excited, it almost left me wanting to sign at that minute! We just clicked and I knew that there was going to be plenty of support and love. I’m a very passionate person, so having that together made it very easy for me to make the decision.

Why franchise and not start a business from scratch?

I chose to franchise and not start a business from scratch because there was so much support around me and I had never run a business before. I love having people to help and guide me and to be there to show me the ropes of every different part of what it is to own a business. I thought it was wonderful that they had a curriculum that was already made and already successful. Also, having a name brand was wonderful and they had a great reputation. All of these things helped facilitate my decision.

Is your husband involved in the business?

Yes! When I first told him that I was really wanting to do it, he said, “This is all you. I have a full time job”. But then as he got on-board and saw what the organization was all about and how wonderful it was, he got fully involved. Now, he’ll call me and say, “How’d the band do today?, how’d everyone do today?” and he’s just as excited and passionate about it as I am.

What’s the biggest benefit to being part of a larger company?

The benefit to being part of a larger company is the constant support and the different people you can call at anytime for anything. There’s someone for marketing. There’s someone for the curriculum. There’s someone to help train your band. There’s just a big infrastructure of support that I needed, as this was my first time running a business.
